ARTICLE : In consonance with Government polices & guidelines on privatisation and in response to the need for modern facilities to handle the rapidly increasing trade in containerised cargo, Premier Mercantile Services Ltd in association with local and foreign sponsors has been awarded the Contract after going through the Transparent International Bidding Process in accordance with the guidelines set by the Board of Investment (BoI) Pakistan, to Build Operate and Transfer Container Terminal at East Wharf Berths Nos 6-9, by the Karachi Port Trust.

This Container Terminal is the First Container Terminal with joint Pakistan and Foreign investment. Important feature of this Container Terminal is that though the commercial operation with gantry Cranes is contracted to commence in 22 month time, but as a special arrangement offered by PMS in the tender, the Container Terminal will be Operative with PMS 2 Mobile Cranes within couple of months, which will enable larger Container Vessels to be handled first time at Karachi Port. …
