MONCKS CORNER-High school block scheduling averted getting its block knocked off Tuesday after the Berkeley County School Board voted unanimously to keep the popular program.
After impassioned pleas from students and teachers across the district to keep the program even though the district is facing a $21 million shortfall in its spending plan next year, school board members learned the state would not be able to provide enough textbooks if the district moved to a seven-period schedule.
