DuPont seeks rest of Canadian unit.

Chemical giant E.I. du Pont de Nemours & Co. said Wednesday, March 19, it is offering C$1.4 billion ($943 million) to buy the 24% of DuPont Canada Inc. it doesn't already own, as part of a plan to spin off its textiles and interiors business.

In a joint statement, the companies said Wilmington, Del.-based DuPont will offer C$21 a share in cash for the equity of the Canadian unit, a 22% premium over DuPont Canada's closing share price of C$17.24 Tuesday on the Toronto Stock Exchange.

DuPont Canada's shares climbed above the offer price Wednesday, rising C$4.28 to C$21.52 by midday.
