* LARAKI FULGURA Geneva is nothing if not a designer's showcase, and the Fulgura (above) is no exception. Designed by Abdeslam Laraki, the two-seat supercar starts life as a Lamborghini Murcielago and gets the full wing and smooth-over effect. We show this to you for a couple of reasons. First, we know that every 11-year-old out there will gasp when he sees it, so it might just become the poster car for every middle-school doodler. Second, this is the only Moroccan car company we can recollect, so it might become a Trivial Pursuit answer some day. The Fulgura pumps out 600 horsepower at 6300 rpm and has a top speed of 205 mph with a 0-to-62-mph time of 3.8 seconds. Like we said, the stuff of dreams.
* MINI ONE D That's ``D'' as in Diesel, the first diesel Mini ever. This makes sense in Europe, where diesels aren't considered weird, even in something as fun to drive as a Mini. The 1.4-liter four, developed with Toyota, makes 75 hp and 132 lb-ft of torque. All that torque is available from just 2000 rpm, so the Mini One D sounds like it would be mighty fun to drive. We in America may never know, though, since there are no plans to bring it into the United States.

While only 1.6 inches longer than the Vectra sedan, wheelbase stretches some 5.1 inches, so the emphasis is on spacious family fun. Outside, the look is decidedly nouveau and could get creepily close to the Renault family portrait if taken just a little further. The domed rear glass and wide C-pillar establish new cues for Opel while the accent inside is on the FlexSpace seating. Four gas engines and three diesel units are available.
