Ask 10 professional drivers how they made it to the big time, and you'll likely get 10 different answers. Chances are they toiled in lesser series-sometimes racing for peanuts, or less-before the major league teams whisked them away to the world of megabucks, Lear jets and supermodels. It's glorious at the top, but what does it take to get there?
Codemasters' Pro Race Driver puts you in the virtual shoes of Ryan McKane, a second-generation throttle jockey with everything to prove. It's safe to say McKane has a Texas-sized chip on his shoulder. And we learn, when he goes head to head with various in-game characters (a hot love interest and a grizzled racing legend to name a couple) that he's a cocky, brash, borderline jerk. We like him a lot.
We also like the cinematic scenes that advance the game's plot. In the opening sequence, McKane as a child witnesses his father die in a mysterious crash. Flash forward 15 years and you become McKane. He's got two goals: win the world championship and learn the truth behind his father's death.
Moving up the championship ladder ...
