2003 MAR 6 - (NewsRx.com & NewsRx.net) -- Antex Biologics Inc. (AMEX:ANX) has filed an initial investigational new drug (IND) application for its TracVax vaccine with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
TracVax is a recombinant subunit vaccine designed to prevent and treat infections caused by Chlamydia trachomatis. Chlamydia is the world's most prevalent sexually transmitted disease and can lead to pelvic inflammatory disease, infertility, and blindness. Chlamydia is the leading cause of infertility and blindness in many countries, including the United States, where annually more than 20,000 women are diagnosed as infertile as a direct result of Chlamydia infection.
