2003 MAR 6 - (NewsRx.com & NewsRx.net) -- NPS Pharmaceuticals (NPSP) briefed the investment community on its most advanced clinical development programs during its recent presentation at the Merrill Lynch Global Pharmaceutical, Biotechnology, and Medical Device Conference.
NPS reported that its lead drug candidate for treating osteoporosis, Preos, is progressing as planned through clinical trials, and that the company is preparing for its commercial launch.
The company emphasized that it now has enough finished Preos material to complete the phase III TOP ("Treatment of osteoporosis with PTH") study, which is on-track for conclusion in September 2003. The company also reported that since it instituted certain changes to the fill-and-finish process for Preos in June 2002, all batches have passed stability specifications.
More than 500 women have completed 18 months of dosing in the TOP study, and more than 75% of those patients have opted to receive Preos in the OLES ("Open Label Extension Study") trial, which allows for a total use of Preos of up to 24 ...
