House Majority Whip James Taylor holds special an invitation to appear on Ernie Mills' "Report from Santa Fe" TV show.

He didn't know at the time it would be one of Mills' last.

"I felt like a kid when he asked me to appear on his show, I felt honored that he asked me. That honor is intensified," Taylor said.

Mills, 76, called a giant of New Mexico political broadcasting, died Wednesday at St. Vincent Hospital in Santa Fe of pneumonia.

He had been hospitalized suddenly Feb. 18, and his interview with Taylor a repeat from earlier in the month was aired again Sunday.
