Through the ups and downs of its nearly 60 years in existence, the Sports Car Club of America has never lacked for detractors and critics. Naturally, president and CEO Steve Johnson isn't one of them. And the SCCA is equally bullish on him: In October Johnson was handed a five-year contract extension, guaranteeing his position through 2008. His goal, as he flatly states it, is that, ``The SCCA is going to be the world leader in motorsports activities.'' Crazy talk? In six decades, people have had a lot to say about the membership-owned organization, but nobody has ever accused the SCCA of being the world leader in racing.
