With about a month until the 2003 American Le Mans Series season gets under way at Florida's Sebring racetrack, the first spectator is already in line-and has been for a while. Perennial early-birder Patrick Taylor arrived to set up camp on Dec. 24, 2002, at 5:20 p.m. Taylor, who was first in line for 2001 and second last year, arrived 77 days before the gates opened for spectators to claim their favorite spots. This breaks the previous record of 65 days set for last year's race.
