A mere mortal of a Jaguar-that's the general consensus of the staff after six months behind the wheel of our pearlescent green X-Type. Not that there's anything wrong with the simpler things in life-we like a cold beer and a football game on the tube as much as the next guy-but we expect more from our feline friends. In some ways, the X-Type satisfies our Jag jones, but in others, it falls short of the marque.
On the plus side, X-Type's looks are growing on us as a group. From its hood-mounted leaper to its arched back and tucked tail, there's no doubt this is a Jag. The perfect paint job, which alleges to be green but appears blue and sometimes even black under certain lighting, draws kudos from staffers as well as unsolicited bystanders.
