"My grandmother had been trying for months to set me up with her friend's grandson, Jake. She kept nagging until I finally agreed to let her give him my home number. He called about a week later, and after chatting for a few minutes, we decided to meet for a drink that Friday. The night before our date, I went out with my friends. We were sitting at a bar when two guys came up and started talking to us. I hit it off with one of them--who happened to be named Jake--so before we left, I gave him my work number and told him to call me. He phoned me at the office the next day and asked if he could take me out on Saturday night, which of course I agreed to. Friday night, I was dreading my blind date, but I tried to be optimistic.
