Fearless factor: I am following my dream of making a full-time living as a painter, despite the fact that everyone said it would be impossible. Not that it's easy--most artists have to take on an additional "real" job on the side. But people are buying my paintings, and my work is well-known in the Chicago area.
Fun factor: The winters here are freezing. Last year, I didn't feel like dealing with it, so I packed up and drove to Arizona. It was warm, and I stayed for six months. I painted, made mosaics, and hiked every day with my dog. That's one of the benefits of working for yourself--having the freedom to up and go whenever and wherever you want.
