SANTA FE Senate Majority Leader Manny Aragon resoundingly lost a bid today to sit on his chamber's Finance Committee.

Senators voted 32-1 to accept a slate of committee assignments that left Aragon off Finance and put him on the Judiciary Committee and the Corporations and Transportation Committee.

The vote was seen as an early victory for Senate President Richard Romero. Two years ago, Romero, an Albuquerque Democrat, ousted Aragon, also an Albuquerque Democrat, from the president post with a controversial, bipartisan coalition.
