German publisher Heinrich Bauer Verlag will have to wait to acquire the core media assets of bankrupt Kirch Group after the U.S. Embassy in Berlin pressured Kirch to entertain a rival bid from Hollywood billionaire Haim Saban.
Sources confirmed Thursday, Jan. 16, that Munich-based Kirch has delayed closing the sale of its film rights library, as well as a 52.5% stake in private broadcaster ProSiebenSat.1 Media AG, to have its adviser UBS Warburg review Saban's bid.
