Keep it small and fun
Cory Farley's ``Unstoppable Supersizing'' column (AW, Dec. 23, 2002) is spot on. There's a ``Why not?'' attitude toward bigger and bigger vehicles, to where we consider a 4000-pound car to be midsize and a 2600-pound Mini Cooper to be tiny, and Porsche builds a 5200-pound SUV. My 2400-pound 240Z did the winding New England roads late at night, but could also haul my bureau between college apartments. I didn't need a truck for a daily ride.

In searching for exciting small cars with standard transmissions, the frustration gets deeper when you add two more requirements: rear-wheel drive and a price under $20K. That's why my daily driver is still a 30-year-old Datsun 510.
