Bring on diesels (AW, Dec. 23)! I drove a Ford Mondeo with the 2.0-liter Duratorq diesel for 4000 miles all over Europe and loved it! (When was the last time you loved a rental car?) It was a great car with a torquey, quiet and efficient engine.

Regarding the Sierra Club's Dan Becker comment, ``... it's better to skip the 19th century technology [diesels] and go right to the 21st century technology [gas/electric hybrids].'' Mr. Becker misses the better solution: using new-tech diesels with cleaner diesel fuel mated to the electric hybrid engine concept!
