The University of New Mexico men's basketball program has been through turmoil, bad luck, player shenanigans and the firing and hiring of two coaching staffs since last New Year's Day.

The Lobos are off to a 4-6 start with another difficult nonconference game at Tennessee slated for Saturday.

Most fans have been patient, but apathy seems to be on the rise with attendance down 8,676 compared to the first eight home games last year.

Comparisons have been made between this season's team and the worst Lobos teams of the past 30 years. Other fans many of whom might not have agreed with the hiring of coach Ritchie McKay in the first place are questioning whether he is the right man for the job.
