2003 JAN 9 - (NewsRx.com & NewsRx.net) -- Data presented at the annual scientific meeting of the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA) shows that TransScan Medical, Ltd.'s TS-2000 system, a noninvasive imaging device that assists in the detection of early-stage breast tumors and precancerous lesions without x-rays or discomfort to the patient, was 100% sensitive (29/29) in detecting miniscule cancers less than 1 cm in size.
The study, presented by Dr. Michael Fuchsjager, a radiologist at the University of Vienna, Austria, represented pooled data from a number of international and American sites that, together, examined 244 patients with a total of 260 breast abnormalities. Seventy (70) of the lesions examined were proven to be cancerous on biopsy; 190 of the lesions were determined to be benign on biopsy. Of the 70 cancers, T-Scan correctly diagnosed 89%.
Importantly, 29 of these cancers were of special interest because they were smaller than 1 centimeter in size and, therefore, the most difficult cancers to detect. Nevertheless, the T-Scan exam correctly diagnosed all 29 of the very small ...
