2003 JAN 8 - (NewsRx.com & NewsRx.net) -- New York City is requesting 15,000 doses of vaccine for health and emergency workers in the event of a smallpox outbreak, health officials said.
The vaccine would be distributed to those in the city most likely to encounter a smallpox patient.
State health officials would not disclose how many vaccine doses would be needed outside of the city, saying only that teams of doctors, nurses and certain law enforcement officials would be vaccinated when the doses become available.
