2003 JAN 8 - (NewsRx.com & NewsRx.net) -- MedMira, Inc., (MIR) announced that it has reached a collaboration venture with a Canadian biopharmaceutical company, Cangene Corp. (CNJ), which will facilitate MedMira in reaching the global market for detection of the protective antibodies against smallpox following vaccination.
The smallpox vaccine consists of a live vaccinia virus which produces an immune defense to smallpox infection in humans. The traditional method for determining the success of vaccination against smallpox was a subjective observation of the presence of a lesion or scar by a healthcare professional.
