FDA approval is expected within 12 months.
The new V-Amour women's latex condom is unlike anything before in barrier method AIDS prevention and contraception. Unlike its plastic, ring-shaped predecessor, the Reality female condom, the V-Amour is a soft, latex pouch attached to a flexible V-shaped frame. A soft polyurethane sponge rests inside the pouch. The V-Amour is the brainchild of A.V.K. Reddy, MD, whom The New York Times has called "The Leonardo of Condom Design."
The V-Amour provides the same basic protective benefits of all condoms, plus increased comfort and pleasure, ease of use, and lower cost. The V-Amour sells for approximately half the cost of Reality. The V-Amour joins its acclaimed "brother," the Reddy-designed Inspiral male condom, which boasts a patented large swirling-spiral tip. The V-Amour and Inspiral are exclusively distributed by Intellx, Inc., of Petoskey, Mich.
