Breast diagnostics company expands relationship with Premier.(Hologic Inc.)(Brief Article)
2003 JAN 2 - (NewsRx.com & NewsRx.net) -- Hologic, Inc., (HOLX), announced it signed an amendment of its contract with Premier, one of the nation's foremost purchasing and supply chain management organizations, for the purchase and sale of the company's LORAD Selenia full field digital mammography system.
The original contract covers its LORAD line of screen-film mammography and stereotactic breast biopsy systems, its direct-to-digital products for general radiographic applications, and the Fluoroscan line of mini C-arm imaging systems.
The Selenia system incorporates the company's proprietary DirectRay digital detector. The DirectRay detector, produced by Hologic's Direct Radiography Corporation division in Newark, Delaware, uses amorphous selenium technology to directly convert x-ray beams to electronic signal, for complete elimination of image degrading light scatter. The Selenia is the only FDA approved digital mammography system using this direct conversion technology.
