Former Ministry Of Sound music group CEO Matt Jagger is set to return to the record industry just a month after leaving the dance company by taking up a new role at Mercury Records.

Jagger is understood to be joining current co-managing directors Greg Castell and Steve Lillywhite as comanaging director A&R and business affairs. In the new job he will explore new business opportunities as well overseeing A&R, in which capacity he will report to Lillywhite.

It is understood that Jagger will also work alongside Universal Music UK chairman Lucian Grainge in a broader role at the major's holding company.
