2002 DEC 27 - (NewsRx.com & NewsRx.net) -- Eximias Pharmaceutical Corporation announced that it has granted rights to LG Life Sciences, Ltd., an affiliate of LG Group, to distribute, market, and sell Thymitaq in the Republic of Korea.
Under the terms of the agreement, LG will have exclusive distribution rights in Korea and, upon approval, will market Thymitaq under their newly launched Life Sciences Division.
Thymitaq is a potent and direct inhibitor of the enzyme thymidylate synthase (TS), and unlike most other TS inhibitors, binds to both folate sites of TS. The drug is the only non-polyglutamated, lipophilic, direct TS inhibitor in development. Because the drug is lipophilic, Thymitaq does not require the reduced folate carrier to enter the cell. Since Thymitaq doesn't have a glutamate moiety and isn't polyglutamated, activity is not dependent upon folyl polyglutamyl synthase levels.
