As you read this, the hi-annual electronics industry jamboree -- better known as Electronica - will be upon us. Despite the gloom that has spread through the industry since the last show it seems there will still be a buzz to be found around the exhibition and conference halls in Munich.
And the organisers have been keen to explore the booming sectors of the industry. Specialised conferences and tutorials have been lined up covering both automotive and embedded systems with a user forum discussing micro-electromechanical systems (MEMs). Dedicated sections have been introduced in the exhibition to provide direct access to providers of sensors, MEMs, and embedded systems. A number of other presentations will take a more in-depth look at environmental issues.
Automotive is a major driver for Electronica this year and we have also devoted a number of pages to this sector this month starting on page 16.
