A SHORTAGE in rapeseed oil supply may prompt India to source an additional one million tonnes of palm oil by February next year. Malaysian Palm Oil Association chief executive M.R. Chandran said India's rapeseed harvest in the current crop year is expected to fall to three million tonnes from 5.5 million tonnes previously. "Based on weather patterns prevailing in the subcontinent right now, a rapeseed harvest of between three and 3.5 million tonnes can be expected against 5.5 million tonnes previously," he told Business Times.
