PENANG, Sept 1 (Bernama) -- MCA President Datuk Seri Dr Ling Liong Sik today described the death of Penang's first Chief Minister, Tan Sri Wong Pow Nee, as a very big loss to the state and nation.

In paying tribute to Wong, he said, his commendable leadership qualities and abilities to lead Penang after Malaysia attained independence in 1957 cannot be denied as he succeeded in uniting all the races during the crucial time.

His biggest contribution was helping the first Prime Minister Tunku Abdul Rahman Putra Al-Haj was to lay the foundation for an independent and sovereign country, he told reporters …
