Hanoi, 28 October: Lt-Gen Le Van Dung, director of the General Political Department of the Vietnam People's Army, visited China and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) from 15-26 October to strengthen ties and cooperation with the two countries' armies.

In China from 15-22 October, Lt-Gen Dung held talks with Sen. Lt-Gen Yu Yongbo, chairman of the General Political Department of the Chinese People's Liberation Army. They informed each other of the situation in their respective countries and discussed international issues of mutual concern.
