One of the three priority areas that the young women wanted to tackle in this Roundtable was the problem of prejudice and racism that they face in their lives. This topic was particularly difficult to discuss because several incidents occurred at the hotel where the meetings were being held.

In the first incident, a large group of White fraternity male members and their friends from a local college made verbal derogatory comments and gestures to several young women in the Roundtable group while they were at the hotel swimming pool. The hotel security guard eventually asked the group to leave the pool area because of their behavior, which appeared to be associated ...
