ISSUES BROUGHT FORTH IN THE GENERAL SESSION
During the first day of the Roundtable, the participants had a discussion meant to elicit as many issues facing Native American women in the United States. Each woman was asked what she thought were the main issues facing Native American women today, In the words of the women, they stated that these were the main problems:
* there is a problem with young people and sexual behavior as it leads to children having children
* nutrition for mothers and babies: why are some mothers still feeding their babies Koolaid?
* mothers who are breast feeding need to have good food, also
* focus on people going back to traditional ways where they are kind and gentle to each other; behavior out of control around elections
* fetal alcohol syndrome (note that men contribute to FAS also)
