The Executive Secretary, National Commission For Mass Literacy, Adult And Non-Formal Education (Nmec), Dr. Ahmed Oyinlola, recently spoke with Bukola Olatunji on the activities of the Commission. Excerpts:

A N120 million United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) fund for mass literacy was allegedly misappropriated sometime ago. What is your comment on this?

I do not want to make any comment about that. But I do know that the commission had a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the UNDP, which stated in that we should make literate 3.1 million adult illiterates between 1995 and 1997.
