Eidson working on 500 victories

Pinewood Prep basketball coach Pat Eidson's attempt to reach 500 career victories by the end of the 2002-03 season includes a couple of "ifs." And one of those "ifs" popped up Monday when the pairings for the 10th annual Red Cross-Rotary Roundball Classic were announced.

Eidson's team will face the nation's 14th-ranked team, Loyola of Los Angles, in the first round of the tournament, which begins Dec. 27 at The Citadel's McAlister Field House. Eidson, who is 27 victories away from the magical milestone, knows there is little room for error if he is to reach 500 by March.
