Our goal: To present food for thought, concepts and information about HRIS that you can apply to your company's environment. The subject matter pertains to all hardware foundations-mainframe, mini and microcomputers-and as you will gather from the responses provided these questions invariably have no one correct answer.

Q. How do you know when you need a new HRIS system?

A. Quite simply, when your old system doesn't work. Either it is missing functionality, and what it misses cannot easily be added, or it has become technologically obsolete.

Most of today's HRIS projects have been justified by either of the above or a combination of these factors.
