B magazine is a glossy aimed at younger women. A special report in the July issue highlights the dangers of 'speed dieting' using amphetamines to suppress appetite and control weight. Dr Hilary Klee, a psychologist at Manchester Metropolitan University and researcher in the field of female drug abuse, states that many women use illegal amphetamines to control their eating. Many become addicted and they may develop eating disorders as well. Because the comedown after use is so unpleasant, people often use other drugs such as heroin or benzodiazepines to help with it.
