Here's a new application for duct tape: treating children's warts. In a study of 51 patients aged 3-22, Dr. Dean Focht III of Madigan Army Medical Center, Tacoma, Wash., and his associates treated 26 patients with duct tape; 25 received traditional cryotherapy (Arch. Pediatr. Adolesc. Med. 156[10]:971-74, 2002). Treated warts resolved completely in 22 patients (85%) in the duct tape group and in 15 (60%) patients in the cryotherapy group.
