Suros Surgical Systems offers new petite needle.(9-gauge petite breast biopsy needle)
2002 DEC 5 - (NewsRx.com & NewsRx.net) -- Suros Surgical Systems, Inc., has added a new 9-gauge petite needle to its ATEC advanced breast biopsy and excision system product line, making outpatient vacuum-assisted biopsies a reality for small-breasted women.
This group of women - estimated to be 5-10% of all patients requiring a biopsy - would traditionally be sent to surgery to obtain tissue samples.
Suros says it is the only breast biopsy device manufacturer offering a true 9 petite needle to breast surgeons and radiologists. The 9 petite allows biopsies from a breast compressed as thin as 22mm; previous industry standards do not recommend attempting vacuum assisted biopsies from breast tissue compressed to less than 35 mm.
