A consortium comprising Shamrock Holdings and billionaire businessman Haim Saban has become the latest group to walk away from the Israeli government's troubled auction of its 50.1% stake in Bezeq Telecom.

In a brief statement issued Monday, Nov. 18, Shamrock and Saban said only that they are no longer interested in acquiring Israel's largest phone company.

"The main reason the group decided to withdraw was the long period of time that has passed after the group decided to bid for Bezeq and the lack of clarity involving the whole process," said a person close to Shamrock, the Los Angeles-based investment arm of the …
