Gemstar TV Guide International Inc., facing allegations from the U.S. Justice Department that Gemstar International Group Ltd. and TV Guide International Inc. illegally coordinated operations before their July 2000 merger, said Friday, Nov. 15, that it was thinking about settling the charges by paying a fine and agreeing to conduct restrictions.

Gemstar said in its quarterly report with the Securities and Exchange Commission that the Justice Department's antitrust division has accused it of "gun jumping." Antitrust regulators have presented Gemstar with terms of a settlement, the company said.
