The elements of both a christening and a wake were present, but for the Rolex Sports Car Series, the three-hour season finale at Daytona International Speedway was definitely a crossroads. The event marked the final appearance of the World Sports Car-based open prototypes, the series' marquee division. And it also marked the first public showing of the new cars that will replace them, beginning at the Rolex 24 next February: the Daytona Sports Prototypes, or DSPs.
