Foyt IV moves to the IRL
* A.J. Foyt IV, grandson of four-time Indianapolis 500 winner A.J. Foyt, will drive in the IRL in 2003 for his grandfather's team. ``Right now, it would probably be Anthony and Airton Dare,'' Foyt said. Foyt IV, 18, won the 2002 Infiniti Pro Series championship, clinching the title in his home state by winning the Pro Series race at Texas Motor Speedway. He returned to TMS on Oct. 31 and passed his IRL rookie test in his grandfather's team car.
McSwain joins Gibbs
* Michael McSwain has left as Ricky Rudd's crew chief at Robert Yates Racing to begin prepping for his new job as Bobby Labonte's crew chief at Joe Gibbs Racing. In the meantime, Raymond Fox III will lead Rudd's crew through the end of the season, and McSwain will work closely with Jimmy Makar on Labonte's car.
NHRA's 2003 Compact schedule
* The addition of two new venues, Las Vegas Motor Speedway and Moroso Motorsports Park near Miami, highlights the 2003 NHRA Summit Sport Compact Drag Racing Series schedule.
