No matter how many times we drive the M5, we're always amazed at just how stinking fast it is and how well everything works together. Clutch takeup is perfect, as is the way the shifter feels. And the brakes are outstanding. But it's more than just a mechanical experience; the M5 hurls you through the gamut of emotions as you stand on the pedals and stir the gears. Passengers absorb its quality and sophistication. The driver feeds off its sheer athleticism. You're aware that you're almost always only using a tiny portion of this car's capability. It's grossly, insanely overqualified for life on American roads. A Kentucky Derby winner giving kiddie rides at the county fair.
