One quarter along we're still mulling: ``What makes our long-term X-Type a Jag?'' The jury is out-but we know what an X-Type is.
Along with elegant, if overdone, adornments came a faulty trunk latch, heavy clutch and leaky windshield-washer nozzles. The $40,000 sticker shouldn't come with such a dysfunctional content lineup that also, surprisingly, didn't include a CD player. Instead we have a complicated navigation screen that can't be viewed in sunlight. Premium finish and high-quality interior materials and exterior sheath fall in line with expectations.
The ride is quiet, and manual shifting promises sporty performance, but base suspension and tires contribute crudeness to an otherwise solid drive. The X-Type's all-wheel drive is a Jag first, and four-wheel acceleration is great for the small amount of bad weather driving we've experienced in the X-Type.
