The downpour over the weekend cleansed the air and cleaned off sidewalks.

But it didn't wash away memories of this summer's drought or the push to step up city water conservation measures.

City leaders tonight will hold a town hall meeting to discuss current and proposed water saving initiatives.

Albuquerque Mayor Martin Chavez and City Councilors Eric Griego and Michael Cadigan plan to introduce bills this month to cut water use in the city.

Chavez's plan would increase water bill rebates for residents who xeriscape their lawns or buy low-flow toilets. It also would change building …
