CHICAGO -- Prior aspirin use was not associated with outcomes in patients with aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhages, Dr. Gerald Toussaint III said at the annual meeting of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons.
Aspirin is thought to exacerbate the initial hemorrhage, increasing rebleeding rates and complicating surgical procedures. Yet it also has been associated with a lower incidence of permanent disability due to reduced ischemic complications from vasospasms.
