A 1,200-acre fire burning near Grants is the likely cause of haze that smudged Albuquerque's air Friday, an official with the city's Air Quality Division said.
Dan Warren, a supervisor for air quality planning, said Albuquerqueans should expect haze through the end of this week and possibly longer.
An opaque gray cloud cloaked the city around 11 a.m. Friday before breaking up by midafternoon.
The increased particulate matter from the haze was not enough for health officials to deem the air quality hazardous, Warren said.
