Nabs is to turn its football-themed fundraiser into an annual event after this week's trial run raised around pounds 50,000 for the ad industry charity.
About 350 people attended the Nabs Charity Football World at Chelsea FC's Stamford Bridge ground on Wednesday. Its success means it will join the Nabs boxing night and May Day Pay Day as a key fund generator.
The former Spurs stars Martin Chivers and Gary Mabbutt, Arsenal's double-winning captain Frank McLintock and the ex-Liverpool manager Roy Evans were among those at the evening. Jack Charlton, the former Ireland manager and World Cup winner, was the guest speaker and the Sky TV presenter Richard Keys hosted a sports quiz.
