NEW YORK Stylish Manhattanites have always considered Gotham the fashion capital of the world, and with a slew of over-the-top designer boutiques cropping up around town recently, there's little chance the city will relinquish that title anytime soon.

"New York is the most dynamic city in the world," says Roberto Massardi, who heads new business and worldwide sales for Jil Sander. "A luxury brand must be there for its development and image."
