Agritech 90: Israel's showcase of super-intensive agricultural technologies

For a few days in March, the TelAviv fairground resembled an open-air United Nations. Thousands of visitors from as many as 120 nations walked together down rows of displays and through attractive pavilions featuring some of the world's most advanced, super-intensive agricultural technologies. This was the long-awaited Agritech 90.

The guests comprised farmers, ranchers, equipment dealers and distributors, businessmen, government officials, researchers and educators. It is estimated that 5,000 foreign visitors attended.

There was the mammoth 1,400-strong delegation of farmers from Spain. And more than 800 farmers journeyed to Agritech 90 from Portugal. There were agribusiness professionals from Thailand and cotton growers …
