Cougars run off with victory as Rio Grande falls for first time.

All autumn long, the Rio Grande Ravens had been catching lightning in a bottle, going the longest without losing among Albuquerque teams.

Finally, the Ravens themselves were caught in a bottle.

The Cibola Cougars did the trick Friday night at Milne Stadium, corking Rio Grande's offense in a 20-7 District 1-5A victory. They gave Rio Grande its first defeat.

After a competent, 35-yard drive on their first possession, the Ravens slipped into an offensive coma. They got just three first downs the rest of the game and, except for quarterback Doug McDaniel's 65-yard, third-quarter …
